The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced a significant update to its visa interview procedures, set to take effect on April 22, 2025.
This new requirement mandates that all Nigerian applicants attending visa interviews at the Embassy in Abuja or the Consulate General in Lagos must present a DS-160 nonimmigrant visa application form with a confirmation barcode that precisely matches the barcode associated with their scheduled online appointment.
The embassy emphasized that this measure is being implemented to streamline the interview process and enhance security. Applicants are strongly advised to ensure that the DS-160 form they bring to their interview is the exact one they completed and used when booking their appointment through the official US travel website. Failure to present a DS-160 form with the correct, matching barcode will result in the applicant being denied entry to the embassy or consulate for their interview, and the scheduled appointment will be subsequently cancelled.
