Seyi Onasanya Emerges New COO, Nigeria Internet Registration Association

Seyi-Onasanya

Seyi Onasanya has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO), Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) effective 1 April, 2025.

Her appointment follows the election of Mrs Eyitayo Iyortim, NiRA’s immediate past COO as Chairperson/President of the African Top-Level Domains (AfTLD).

NiRA is a non-governmental organisation tasked with managing Nigeria’s country code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD). The organisation plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability, security, and reliability of Nigeria’s internet infrastructure.

In a statement released on Sunday, NiRA President, Mr Akinsola Adesanya, expressed confidence in Onasanya’s appointment.

Adesanya noted that Onasanya brings with her a wealth of experience in business operations, strategic planning, management consulting, stakeholder engagement, and has worked extensively across both private and public sectors.

“Her strong leadership skills and deep understanding of the DNS ecosystem and internet governance will be instrumental in advancing our position in this critical space.

“We are confident that her expertise will significantly contribute to NiRA’s continued growth and success.

“She has led large-scale transformation projects across Nigeria and beyond, including consulting assignments for governments, regulatory bodies, and private sector institutions,” he said.

Adesanya also described Onasanya as a recognised authority in organisational strategy, HR transformation, digital capability development, corporate governance, and leadership coaching.

He added that she has supported institutions across Africa and Asia in building future-ready capabilities.

Her appointment, he said, represents a strategic milestone for NiRA as it continues to champion internet accessibility, digital innovation, and national digital identity through the .ng domain.

“Prior to joining NiRA, Onasanya served as Director at SNEVA Global Associates, a business advisory and corporate development firm.

“She was also Director and Head of Business Advisory at FITC, and held the position of Organisation Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).”
