Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Commends INEC For Rejecting Recall Petition

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting what she described as a fraudulent recall attempt orchestrated by sponsored groups and individuals.

INEC, in an official statement on Thursday, dismissed the recall petition against Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that it “did not meet the constitutional requirements” and that no further action would be taken.

Reacting to the decision in a personally signed statement, the Senator expressed gratitude to INEC for upholding justice and constitutionality, resisting pressures from undemocratic forces within Kogi and the Senate.

“God has put to shame anti-democratic forces plotting my recall from the Senate, including one of the most wanted persons by the EFCC, former governor Yahaya Bello,” she declared.

Akpoti-Uduaghan asserted that the mandate given to her by the people of Kogi Central remained sacrosanct and could not be overturned by political adversaries.

“The voice of the people is the voice of God. Nobody—be it former Governor Yahaya Bello, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, or their associates—can toy with the mandate freely given by my people without facing shame.”

The Senator further emphasized that the INEC verdict was a victory against injustice and manipulation, adding that the electoral body had proven its independence.

“This decision is justice against injustice. INEC has proven to be truly independent, and history will never forget this moment.”

She condemned the “agents of darkness” behind the recall attempt, stating that their era of political violence, election rigging, and corruption was coming to an end.

“To God be the glory, we have defeated them again. Their days are numbered in politics because the people are now rejecting leaders whose trademarks are violence, manipulation, and corruption.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to defending the rights of the people, delivering on her mandate, and ensuring justice for the oppressed.

“I am out to bring justice to the oppressed, freedom to the captives, and to make my modest contribution towards a greater Nigeria. Thank you to all lovers of justice who stood by me.”

With INEC’s ruling, the attempt to recall the Senator has officially been laid to rest, reinforcing her position in the National Assembly as a representative of the people of Kogi Central.
