In a gathering held in Ibadan, Oyo State, PDP Governors, the National Working Committee (NWC), and key stakeholders convened to address escalating internal strife. At the forefront of discussions were fervent calls for the expulsion of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and the removal of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the PDP National Secretary.
Hosted by Governor Seyi Makinde, the meeting, attended by over eight governors and NEC members, aimed to resolve the contentious National Secretary issue, especially in light of the Supreme Court’s reinforcement of Hon. SKE Udeh Okoye’s endorsement.
Additionally, the political turmoil in Rivers State, including the legal battles surrounding a potential state of emergency and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, was a critical point of deliberation. With the party facing significant challenges, the meeting’s outcomes are crucial for the PDP’s future, particularly as it strategizes for the 2027 elections.
The insistent demands for Wike’s ouster signal a pivotal moment for the party, despite official pronouncements of pursuing peaceful resolutions.
