Former Governor of Abia State and serving Senator, Theodore Orji, has issued a strong rebuttal to his successor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, urging him to “carry his cross” and refrain from making “careless statements” about others.
Senator Orji, fondly known as Ochendo Global, was reacting to remarks made by Ikpeazu during a public event in Abuja, where the former governor described leaders who criticize their predecessors as “lazy leaders.” Ikpeazu also claimed that he inherited a “gloomy state” when he assumed office in 2015.
Responding swiftly through his former Liaison Officer and Senior Aide, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere, Senator Orji called out the contradiction in Ikpeazu’s statements.
He noted that while Ikpeazu condemned those who speak ill of their predecessors, he went on to do the same.
“It’s contradictory for someone to preach against criticizing predecessors, yet in the same breath, label the state he inherited as gloomy,” Orji stated.
He further urged Ikpeazu to own up to his time in office and stop pointing fingers.
“Let him carry his cross. Leadership is not about dishing out blame or making speeches; it’s about taking responsibility,” Orji said.
The exchange has reignited political tensions in Abia State, spotlighting ongoing debates over leadership legacies and accountability.
