
Afrobeats singer Emmanuel Adewale, popularly known as Mayorkun, has revealed that he is contemplating relocating abroad due to the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria.
The “Mayor of Lagos” crooner made this known via social media on Monday, sparking discussions among fans and industry stakeholders.
Taking to his X handle, Mayorkun wrote: “I dey reason to japa [relocate].”
In recent years, an increasing number of Nigerian celebrities have opted to move abroad, citing various personal and professional reasons. Notable figures such as Tacha, Eldee, Dr. Sid, Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Rita Dominic, Uche Jombo, and Emeka Ike have all relocated within the past decade.
Last year, veteran singer Banky W also announced that he had moved to the United States with his family for educational purposes.
Mayorkun’s statement has sparked reactions among his followers, with many expressing mixed feelings about the growing trend of entertainers leaving the country.
