Lagos State University (LASU) is set to celebrate academic excellence as it prepares to graduate 192 First-Class students at its 28th convocation ceremony, scheduled from April 4 to April 7, 2025.
During a press briefing, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello highlighted the achievements of this year’s graduating class. A total of 8,711 students will receive first-degree certificates, with 3,076 earning Second-Class Upper, 4,397 securing Second-Class Lower, and 228 obtaining a Pass. Additionally, 17 students will be awarded non-classified degrees.
Beyond celebrating student achievements, LASU is set to recognize distinguished Nigerians who have made significant contributions to national development. Brigadier-General Buba Marwa (Rtd.), Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and former Military Governor of Lagos State, will receive an honorary doctorate degree in appreciation of his service to the nation.
Further underscoring its commitment to excellence, the university will elevate Professor Joseph Abayomi Olagunju to the prestigious rank of Distinguished Professor, acknowledging his longstanding contributions to academia.
This convocation promises to be a landmark event, recognizing not only academic excellence but also outstanding leadership and service to society.
