The Kogi State Government has accused suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of attempting to incite chaos in the state following her recent homecoming.
The accusation comes in the wake of the state’s ban on political gatherings and the use of convoys, which the government says she deliberately violated.
In response to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio were responsible for her political challenges, the state government dismissed her allegations as baseless and misleading.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, described her accusations as “reckless, malicious, and utterly false.” He further stated:
“This is yet another desperate and calculated attempt by an incurable liar and serial manipulator to mislead the public, incite unrest, and present herself as a victim after deliberately violating the ban on political gatherings imposed by the State Government to maintain law and order.”
The government claimed that Akpoti-Uduaghan had deleted a social media post containing her allegations but that authorities had already documented it.
The statement also alleged that her visit was intended to stir violence in Kogi Central Senatorial District.
Fanwo insisted that Governor Ododo has no interest in what he described as Akpoti-Uduaghan’s “political theatrics” and emphasized that she has a history of “lawlessness, lies, and deceit.”
He accused her of intentionally disregarding security measures meant to maintain peace and warned that she would be held responsible for any ensuing violence in the state.
The Kogi State Government reaffirmed its commitment to upholding law and order, stating that no individual, regardless of their political status, would be allowed to incite disorder.
“The people of Kogi State and Nigerians at large should see through her deceptive ploys and reject her attempt to manipulate public perception with outright lies. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is not a victim; she is an instigator of disorder who thrives on spreading falsehoods to gain public sympathy.”
Furthermore, the government called on security agencies to closely monitor her actions, which it described as inflammatory and a threat to the peace and stability of the state.
Kogi State remains committed to peace under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the statement concluded, adding that any attempt to provoke crises would not be tolerated.
