National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, led the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna on Friday.
The visit came just hours after an earlier high-profile meeting between Buhari and a delegation of opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Also present in the earlier visit were former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and former Minister of Communications Isa Pantami.
Following the visit, El-Rufai addressed reporters, insisting the meeting was non-political and cautioning critics against reading too much into it.
While the APC leadership did not disclose the purpose of their own visit, it closely followed an earlier trip by APC governors led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.
That delegation had visited Buhari to convey Sallah greetings and commend him for a successful Ramadan observance.
These consecutive visits have sparked speculation, particularly regarding possible moves by the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) faction — a core group in the 2013 APC merger — to break away. Buhari is widely regarded as a key figure in the CPC’s founding.
Despite the rising political undercurrents, Buhari reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, stating he has no intention of parting ways with the ruling party.
