Manchester City midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the current season, ending a legendary 10-year stint at the Etihad Stadium.
The Belgian playmaker made the announcement in a heartfelt open letter to fans on Friday, shared across his social media platforms.
“Nothing about this is easy to write,” De Bruyne began. “But as football players, we all know this day eventually comes. That day is here—and you deserve to hear it from me first.”
Since joining City from Wolfsburg in 2015, De Bruyne has become one of the club’s most decorated and iconic players.
He reflected fondly on his journey, crediting the city and its people for transforming his life both professionally and personally.
“This city. This club. These people… gave me EVERYTHING. I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back,” he wrote. “And guess what—we won EVERYTHING.”
Now 33, De Bruyne highlighted the deep bond he and his family share with Manchester, saying it will always remain a part of their identity.
“Suri, Rome, Mason, Michèle, and I are beyond grateful for what this place has meant to our family. ‘Manchester’ will forever be on our kids’ passports—and more importantly, in each of our hearts. This will always be our HOME.”
He expressed profound gratitude to City’s staff, teammates, fans, and friends for what he called “the best chapter” of his career.
As the season winds down, De Bruyne urged fans to cherish their remaining time together: “Let’s enjoy these last moments together!”
Still wearing the No. 17 shirt, De Bruyne remains a central figure in City’s campaign for more silverware.
His farewell marks the end of an era for the club—and the legacy he leaves behind is nothing short of legendary.
