Akpoti-Uduaghan Refutes Political Claims, Says Sallah Visit Was Not a Campaign

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in Kogi State  has dismissed claims by political opponents that her recent visit to her hometown was a political gathering, clarifying  that her trip yesterday  was solely to celebrate Sallah with her constituents and had no political undertones.

In her response to the frivolous  allegations of paying and mobilising  attendees for the event, Senator Akpoti -  Uduaghan  described the claims as baseless and misleading. “This was a celebration of unity and shared love, not politics,” she stated.

“The people who welcomed me did so of their own free will, and I deeply appreciate their sacrifice.”

Despite a government-imposed restriction on vehicular movement, the senator expressed satisfaction for the thousands of supporters that trekked long distances through bush paths to receive her with a heroic welcome.

The senator, who arrived in her compound via chopper, stressed that she was met with overwhelming cheers, reflecting the deep-rooted affection her people have for her, disclosing that  some supporters were even attacked on their way but remained undeterred in their resolve to celebrate with her.

Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that the crowd on the ground consisted of residents from the five local government areas that make up Kogi Central Senatorial district representing less than 3 percent of her supporters,  noting that the turnout was a testament to her enduring influence in the region.

Beyond the celebration, the senator stressed  that her visit also highlighted her developmental contributions to the senatorial  district, pointing out that the  road where the people gathered to welcome her was one of the roads she had facilitated and constructed years ago, before she became a Senator in  Nigeria.

She explained that her tenure has been marked with  commitment to infrastructure, empowerment programmes and social welfare initiatives that have transformed many lives.

While expressing gratitude for the massive show of love, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan reassured her constituents of her commitment to their welfare.

“Your presence here today, despite the difficulties, humbles me, It only strengthens my resolve to continue working tirelessly for the progress of our land.” she said.

The Senator hinted that the grand reception further reaffirmed her popularity in Kogi Central Senatorial district countering the narratives pushed by political detractors.
