At least 47 people were confirmed dead following a brutal attack on Sunday night in Zike and Kimakpa communities, located in the Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area in Plateau State.
The incident, which occurred around 8:00 p.m., comes just over a week after a similar assault in Bokkos Local Government Area that claimed 52 lives and caused widespread destruction.
Confirming the latest tragedy, the National Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association, Danjuma Dickson Auta, said the coordinated attacks left dozens injured in addition to the fatalities. He made the announcement in Jos on Monday.
The Plateau State Government has expressed alarm over the continued violence, citing growing concerns about the alleged occupation of affected communities by armed groups, which has exacerbated tensions across the region.
As of the time of reporting, the Plateau State Police Command has not issued an official statement on the incident.
This attack marks another grim chapter in the ongoing security crisis in Plateau State, where repeated cycles of violence have devastated lives and property.
