The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Professor Melvin D. Ayogu as a member of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Board of Directors.
Ayogu, a renowned economist and professor at the University of Cape Town, hails from Enugu State.
His appointment was approved following a review by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, led by Senator Adetokunbo Abiru and presented by Senator Osita Izunaso.
This confirmation follows President Bola Tinubu’s request to the Senate last week, in compliance with the CBN Act of 2007.
The President emphasized that Ayogu’s appointment aligns with the legal framework governing the bank’s board composition.
