A member of the House of Representatives, Clara Nnabuife, has left the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Nnabuife, who represents Orumba North/Orumba South Federal Constituency in Anambra State, attributed her defection to being sidelined in YPP’s activities.
Her decision was made public during Thursday’s plenary when Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, presiding in the absence of Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, read her letter of defection on the floor of the House.
In the letter, Nnabuife explained that APGA provides a stronger platform for her to effectively represent the interests of her constituents.
“The exclusion from the activities of YPP and the need to embrace a better platform to represent the wishes of my people is the reason for this decision,” she stated.
Her defection comes amid growing political tensions in Anambra, as APGA prepares for the 2025 governorship election.
