The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has officially inaugurated the newly constituted Market Boards for five markets in the local government area. This follows the earlier release of the board members' names by his office.
In his address, the Chairman congratulated the newly appointed board members and their respective chairmen. He charged them with the responsibility of maintaining peace and order within their respective markets while fostering a cordial relationship with the traditional leaders of each market. He further outlined their duties, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for the smooth running of market activities.
Expressing his gratitude, Ogbeni Odulate acknowledged His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his continuous support and undeterred commitment to the 'Building Our Future Together' agenda, which he consistently demonstrates in governance.
During the event, the Chairman called for a minute of silence in honour of the late Rt. Hon. Otunba Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga (Ijaya), who passed away two months ago. He prayed for her repose soul to have eternal rest.
The Chairman also took the opportunity to brief attendees on key projects in the pipeline, including:
• The construction of an Information Technology (IT) Centre.
• The transformation of a section of the Town Hall building, currently occupied by the customary court, into a Job Centre to enhance employment opportunities in nearby companies.
• The modernization of the Legislative Hall to align with contemporary legislative standards.
• The reconstruction of Sode Road, Sabo.
In addition to these initiatives, Ogbeni Odulate announced plans to appoint 15 Special Advisers on Political Matters, one from each ward in Sagamu Local Government. This move is aimed at strengthening political engagement and grassroots governance.
He further disclosed the forthcoming appointment of board members for Falawo Market and Itesiwaju Market, Ogijo, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to structured and efficient market leadership.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by party stakeholders, local government staff, members of the executive cabinet, and well wishers.
