Hon. Bassey Akiba, The Lawmaker Representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has donated medical equipment worth millions of naira to six Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in his constituency, in a significant demonstration of his unwavering commitment to quality healthcare delivery to his constituents.
The benefitting primary healthcare centres include Akim, Nasarawa, and Akai Efa in Calabar Municipality as well as Akpap-Okoyong, Adiabo Efut, and Okurikang in Odukpani LGA.
Hon. Akiba was represented at the official handover ceremony by the DG, Bassey Akiba Foundation, Mrs. Precious Esse reaffirmed his unwavering dedication to improving the health and well-being of his people through the Health Support Programme.
Akiba stressed that access to quality healthcare is not a privilege but a fundamental right of the citizens, stating that his leadership will continue to prioritise the health and welfare of the constituents.
“Healthcare is the bedrock of a thriving society. This donation is part of my commitment to ensuring that our people, especially those in rural communities, receive the medical attention they deserve.
“These facilities will now be better equipped to handle emergencies, maternal care, and general health services.” He said.
