A Don from The University of Port Harcourt, Professor Otu Ekpenyong is optimistic that Governor Umo Eno will improved healthcare delivery in Akwa Ibom State, The Don stated this in an interaction with Newsmen on the newly inaugurated State Executive Council.
The Sociology lecturer was particular about the healthcare sector:
“I am confident that we will witness significant improvements in healthcare delivery, policy implementation and overall public health outcomes (under the Umo Eno administration).” Ekpenyong said.
He said that track record of Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, the new Commissioner of Health from his undergraduate days at Uniport speaks volumes.
The don who is a one time Dean, Student Affairs of The Institution said he has observed the Commissioner from his undergraduate days and believes he will perform creditably well in his new assignment:
“Having closely followed his journey from his days as a student leader at the University of Port Harcourt to his remarkable contributions in his professional association within and outside Akwa Ibom, I can confidently say that Dr Ekem Emmanuel John possesses the unique blend of leadership, vision and dedication required to transform the health sector in Akwa Ibom.
“Dr John’s track record speaks for itself. As a student leader, he demonstrated exceptional organisational skills, deep sense of responsibility and resolute commitment to the welfare of his peers.
“These qualities have only grown stronger in his professional career, where he has consistently proven his ability to lead, innovate, and deliver results even as Senior Special Assistant and Personal Physician to the governor.”He said.
