In a historic diplomatic move, Ghana and Morocco have agreed to abolish visa requirements for all travelers between the two nations, paving the way for stronger economic, tourism, and security collaborations.
Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, confirmed that the agreement will soon be submitted for parliamentary ratification.
The breakthrough follows high-level talks with Morocco’s Ambassador to Ghana, Imane Ouaadil.
Beyond visa-free travel, Morocco has doubled its scholarship slots for Ghanaian students, increasing opportunities from 90 to 180 annually.
Meanwhile, Ablakwa also debunked viral claims of mass violence against Africans in Morocco, stating that reports of 700 deaths were false and stemmed from a misrepresented 2022 border incident.
In a separate diplomatic engagement, Ablakwa met with Russia’s Ambassador to Ghana, Sergei Berdnikov, to reaffirm Ghana’s stance on neutrality and global peace efforts.
