The immediate past Head of Service of Rivers State, George Nwaeke, has refuted claims by his wife, Florence, that he was kidnapped and being held under duress.

Nwaeke, who recently made serious allegations against suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, stated that contrary to his wife’s emotional assertions, he is safe and currently in Abuja.

In a video that surfaced online early Saturday, he explained that he voluntarily traveled to Abuja to report himself to security agencies due to the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

Reacting to his wife’s statements, Nwaeke suggested that she had been misled and given a script to read.

“I just saw a video of my wife trending. She was told I had been kidnapped and was given a script to read,” he said. “I want to make it clear—I am not kidnapped. I am in Abuja, working.”

He further clarified that his wife was never involved in his official duties while he served as Head of Service, emphasizing that her claims were baseless.

Nwaeke explained that he resigned as Head of Service on Monday due to the escalating political crisis in Rivers State. He stated that he felt safer reporting to security agencies in Abuja, as most of their headquarters are located there.

“I arrived in Transcorp, Abuja, this morning from Port Harcourt to meet with security agencies and report myself, as well as the troubling events happening in Rivers State,” he said.

The situation in Rivers State remains tense, with political tensions and conflicting narratives fueling further uncertainty.
