A Ramadan outreach meant to bring relief turned into a scene of chaos in Gombe State as desperate youths ambushed and looted a truck loaded with food items allegedly distributed by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Seyi, who has been touring northern states under the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement (RHYE) Initiative, aimed to provide Ramadan feeding programs for the less privileged.
However, his visit to Gombe took an unexpected turn when one of two trucks carrying 3,500 cartons of food supplies was intercepted and ransacked by an unruly mob.
A viral video captures the dramatic moment when youths swarmed the truck, grabbing bags of rice, sugar, oil, salt, and pasta in a frenzy.
The second truck reportedly made it to its destination, but the damage had already been done.
While some have applauded the initiative, others argue that temporary food aid is merely a band-aid solution, insisting that the region needs long-term empowerment programs rather than political grandstanding.
