
30 senior lecturers at The University of Port Harcourt have been promoted to Professor Ranks while 16 others were promoted to Associate Professor level.
This was announced on Tuesday by The Institution’s Vice Chancellor Owunari Georgewill in Port Harcourt in a statement.
The Vice Chancellor said that the newly promoted professors had been thoroughly assessed and screened by the University:
”The promotions were approved during the 187th meeting of the Governing Council, chaired by the pro-chancellor and chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.
”A total of 30 staff members were elevated to the rank of professor, while 16 others were promoted to associate professor.” Georgewell said.
A breakdown of those promoted indicates that the Faculty of Science has seven new professors, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Management Sciences has five each, Faculty of College of Health Sciences, five; Faculty of Humanities, four; Faculty of Engineering, three; and Faculty of Pharmaceuticals, one.
In the Associate Professor category, the Faculty of Engineering produced four the Faculty of Science, three; the Faculty of Education, two; the Faculty of Humanities, two; and the Faculty of Agriculture, one.
Others beneficiaries are the Faculty of Social Sciences, one; the Faculty of Management Sciences, one; the Faculty of College of Health Sciences, one; and the Faculty of School of Science Laboratory Technology, one.
