Two Young Children Missing in Igando: Community Rallies for Their Safe Return

Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo

Igando, Lagos – A distressing incident unfolded in the heart of the Igando community as two young children, Ella (4) and Ashabi (2), went missing under troubling circumstances. The children were last seen playing in front of their home on Gbadamosi Street, where they often enjoyed time with other neighborhood kids.

On the day of the incident, their caregiver returned home to check on their ailing father and found the children playing happily with others outside a nearby shop owned by a local woman. After ensuring they were entertained, the caregiver provided the children with money to buy biscuits from their landlord's shop within the compound. However, upon returning with food for their father, she discovered the children were no longer at their usual spot.

A nearby child reported seeing Ella and Ashabi with the woman they had been watching cartoons with on her phone. The witness mentioned that the woman had gone to buy drinks at the shop, but the children did not return home. Concerned for their safety, the caregiver immediately sought help from the local police station in Igando.

In a desperate attempt to locate the missing children, the caregiver also reached out to various radio and television stations, imploring the community for any information regarding the children's whereabouts. She has been actively posting on social media, tagging individuals and organizations in hopes of spreading the word about the alarming situation.

The community has rallied together in support of the search, with many residents joining the effort to locate Ella and Ashabi. Local leaders and volunteers have organized search parties and have been distributing flyers with the children’s photos and descriptions.

Ella is described as a bright and cheerful girl with a playful spirit, while her younger sister Ashabi is known for her gentle demeanor. Family and friends are deeply worried about their well-being and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

As the search continues, the community remains hopeful for the safe return of the two little girls. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen the children or the woman in question to report any leads immediately.

The safety of our children is paramount, and the community stands united in the face of this heart-wrenching situation. We urge everyone to keep a lookout and assist in bringing Ella and Ashabi back home where they belong.
