Tragic Loss: FMC Head of Audit Department Takes His Own Life

Abeokuta, Ogun State — In a heartbreaking turn of events, Adeniyi Oluwaseun, the Acting Head of the Audit Department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, has reportedly taken his own life by jumping into a well in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta on Sunday evening.

The shocking incident occurred shortly after Adeniyi had dinner with family. While the precise motivations behind this tragic act remain unclear, it has been revealed that he had been struggling with mental health challenges and had previously sought treatment for his condition.

Emergency responders retrieved Adeniyi's body from the well, and it has since been transported to a local morgue. The grim discovery has left the community and his colleagues reeling in shock.

Segun Orisajo, the Head of Public Relations and Communication at FMC Abeokuta, confirmed the incident on Tuesday. He expressed profound sadness over the loss of a dedicated and hardworking staff member. “It is true that he committed suicide. It was an unfortunate incident. The management feels deeply saddened about this development. It is a quiet and irreparable loss. Our heartfelt condolences go to his department and to his family members,” Orisajo remarked.

Adeniyi’s commitment to his role at FMC was widely recognized, and his untimely departure has raised concerns about mental health awareness and support within the workplace. Colleagues described him as a valued team player who was always willing to go the extra mile.
