Tensions Escalate in Ogun State as Allegations of Political Violence Emerge

In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing conflict within Ogun State's transport sector, members of the Ogun State Park Management (OGSPAM) have accused Alhaji Mustapha Yaro, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), of planning to unleash terror on them this coming Monday, January 20, 2025. The allegations come amidst rising tensions that have already led to fears of violence in the region.

Led by Alhaji Abodunrin, OGSPAM members have claimed that Yaro, a known card-carrying member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), is specifically targeting loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) within the transport union. The accusations suggest that Yaro is leveraging his political affiliations to orchestrate attacks against those aligned with the APC, further politicizing the internal strife within the transport sector.

Alhaji Abodunrin expressed grave concerns about the potential for violence, stating that the upcoming Monday could see a significant escalation if immediate action is not taken by law enforcement agencies. "We are calling on the authorities to intervene before it’s too late. The political motives behind these threats could lead to chaos in Ogun State," he warned.

The situation has raised alarms among residents and stakeholders who fear that such politically motivated violence could have dire consequences for the community at large. Local business owners, commuters, and families are left on edge as they await the unfolding events, with many calling for peace and dialogue as a means to resolve the conflict.

In response to the accusations, Alhaji Mustapha Yaro has not yet issued a statement addressing the claims of planned violence or his alleged political motivations. His silence has only fueled speculation and heightened tensions further, prompting community leaders to urge him to clarify his position and advocate for a peaceful resolution.

As the date of potential conflict approaches, security agencies are being urged to remain vigilant and prepared to prevent any acts of violence. The hope is that through proactive measures and open communication, Ogun State can navigate this turbulent period without descending into chaos.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, as the community collectively seeks to maintain peace and order in these challenging times. The situation remains fluid, and all eyes are on Ogun State as it braces for what could be a pivotal moment in its political and social landscape.
