Protest: NANS Frowns At MAPOLY Rector, Arc. Jolaoso, Accuses Him of Mismanagement

Ogun State, Nigeria - January 14, 2025 – The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun Joint Campus Committee (JCC), has voiced strong grievances against the leadership of Arc. Dr. Jolaosho, the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), accusing him of mismanagement that has left students disillusioned and frustrated.

In a memorandum released yesterday, NANS Ogun JCC expressed disappointment in what they described as Dr. Jolaosho’s “tyrannical rule,” which they claim has resulted in administrative stagnation and inefficiency at the institution. The association, which initially supported Dr. Jolaosho’s appointment, now asserts that his academic credentials do not translate into effective leadership.

Among the primary concerns raised by the students include chronic underfunding of the institution, resulting in a learning environment that is increasingly unconducive for academic pursuits. Furthermore, the association highlighted the delays in the release of results for graduated students, a situation they argue jeopardizes their future and causes undue frustration.

“Despite our repeated attempts to engage with Dr. Jolaosho constructively, he has remained unyielding, demonstrating a blatant disregard for due process,” stated Comr. Adeyanju Francis, Chairman of NANS Ogun JCC. “His poor managerial skills and lack of responsiveness to students’ grievances have compelled us to take action.”

In light of the escalating tensions, NANS Ogun JCC has organized a large-scale protest scheduled for today. The protest, dubbed “the mother of all protests,” will occur simultaneously at the MAPOLY school gate and the Ogun State Government House. Students from various institutions across Ogun State are expected to participate, demanding immediate reforms within the institution’s administration and a prompt resolution to the pending release of results for graduates.

The association has outlined several key demands, including:

1. An immediate overhaul of the institution’s administrative processes.

2. The swift release of all pending results for graduated students.

3. A commitment from the Ogun State Government to address the looming threat of increased school fees across the state.

NANS Ogun JCC has issued a warning that should the issue of school fee increments escalate into a statewide protest, Dr. Jolaosho will bear full responsibility for the ensuing consequences. 

The Ogun State Government has been urged to intervene promptly to prevent further disruptions and prioritize the welfare and future of students. As the protest unfolds, the eyes of the state will be on both the students and the administration, as the outcome may set a precedent for student governance and administration relations in the future.
