The Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Adisa Adesina, has expressed deep sadness over the death of Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, popularly known as IJAYA, a distinguished member of the House of Representatives who represented Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Hon. Sikiru Adesina described the news of her passing as shocking and a great loss not only to her family and constituency but to Ogun State and the nation at large.
"Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga was a committed leader, a political ally, and a gentlewoman whose dedication to public service was exceptional. She contributed immensely to the development of governance at the grassroots level, making significant strides in Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency. Her efforts extended beyond her immediate constituency, leaving an indelible mark on Ogun State as a whole," the Ewekoro council boss stated.
Hon. Adesina noted that the late legislator served conscientiously in the House of Representatives, carrying out her legislative duties with a strong sense of responsibility and unwavering commitment to the well-being of her constituents.
"Her passion for governance, coupled with her compassion for the people she represented, defined her tenure as a public servant. She will be greatly missed not just by her immediate family but by the people of Ogun State and the nation at large," he added.
The council chairman extended his condolences to the bereaved family, friends, political associates, and constituents of Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, praying that God grants them the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
“May Almighty Allah rest her soul in perfect peace and forgive her shortcomings,” Hon. Adesina prayed.
