Enhancing Ogun State's Traffic Compliance: A Call for Increased Manpower and Resources

In a bid to improve road safety and enhance traffic management in Ogun State, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance Agency (TRACE) urgently requires an increase in manpower and logistical support. With a workforce of less than 650 officers tasked with monitoring traffic across 20 local government areas, the agency faces the daunting challenge of managing a sprawling population of over 9 million residents. This disparity highlights a critical need for the government, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, to prioritize the expansion of TRACE's capabilities.

The pressing need for more officers is evident, especially considering the rapid growth of the state's population and the corresponding rise in vehicular traffic. The current manpower is insufficient to ensure effective enforcement of traffic regulations, leading to widespread violations and dangerous driving behaviors, including the notorious one-way driving that poses significant risks to all road users. By increasing the number of officers, TRACE can enhance its presence on the roads, consequently improving compliance with traffic laws and promoting safer driving habits among residents.

Moreover, the Ogun State government has a unique opportunity to tap into the financial prosperity of the transportation sector. By bolstering TRACE's capabilities, the state can enhance its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through improved traffic management. Provision of adequate facilities and resources for TRACE officers is paramount. Education and awareness campaigns, coupled with increased enforcement, can significantly reduce traffic violations and accidents.
