...As Sports Commission boss charges team to go for glory against Abia Angels In NWFL league opener tomorrow
Edo State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon.Dennis Idahosa today performed the official unveiling ceremony of newly appointed Edo Queens General Manager, Rollanson Aituari Odeh, Moses Aduku, Edo Queens head coach Anthony Pogah, Edo Queens player's Scout and Omoyemwen Adeyinka as the Club's welfare officer.
Others persons unveiled include Austin Iyamu and Peter Obanor as Technical Director and Team Manager respectively for Bendel Insurance Football Club, with Greg Ikhenoba confirm as substantive Head Coach, Rolland Abu, as Vice Chairman Bendel Insurance management team.
The Deputy Governor of Edo State Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, represented the Executive Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo at the event.
In his key note address, Sports Commission boss Hon. Desmond Amadin Enabulele, commended Edo Sports fraternity for their contributions to sports development. He called for accelerated progress in Edo Queens and Bendel Insurance to bring the two teams back to winning ways in the annals of Nigeria football.
"I'm happy to say that the Executive Governor of Edo State Senator Monday Okpebholo, has given us the mandate to ensure a turn around in the sports sector.
Edo Queens and Bendel Insurance needed effective and efficient management and technical crew hence the appointment of ex- players and football legends who have distinguished themselves in the game of football to add value to the clubs."
"As part of efforts to beef up both teams, we have deemed it necessary to recruit new players that are result orientated particularly Edo Queens who are kick starting the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL new season tomorrow in Benin City.
Honourable Desmond Enabulele, charged the reigning NWFL premiership champions to go for victory in the league opener against the visiting Abia Angels.
"I want to use this medium to congratulate Edo Queens new players for joining the winning team. I also charged you all to imbile the winning mentality that you are known for. The state government is committed towards making Edo State sports top notch in Nigeria".
Meanwhile, Edo Queens new General Manager Rollanson Aituari Odeh, commended the State government for giving him the opportunity to serve his father land, adding that he will bring his experience to play in the discharge of his duty and and work harmoniously with other members of the team for effective results.
"Edo Queens is already a market itself, so all I can say is that we are going to build on the successes the team has attain at the moment.
Yes we loss at the semifinal stage of the CAF Women's Champions League showpiece in Morocco, yet we were rated as the best team in the tournament. We still have those high profile players in the team, we will build on that and make sure we maintain our form."
For Moses Aduku, he said:
"Yes is one game at a time, the new NWFL season is starting tomorrow, we are ready, we pray for the best, my girls will go out there and do the State proud. I'm not new in the system, we pray for injury free season. I want to assure state government that Edo Queens won't disappoint them. Our target is to win again and return to the continent."
