The 2024 Osubi Community Unity Cup is up and running in Osubi, Delta State with the participating teams gunning for glory with mouth watering cash-prices.
16 teams in Osubi Community divided into four groups of four teams started the tournament, which was played in a knock-out format and whose grand finale comes up this Sunday, December 29, with top dignitaries converging on the venue to watch the finalists battle for the winners trophy.
The finals of the tournament which promises to be explosive will attract the presence of Delta State Sports Commission Chairman, Hon. Onoriode Oborewovori, as the Chief guest, Victor Ikepba (MON) (Prince Of Monaco) and Mr Paul Ojo Omamomo (Head Scouting for Africa, FDC Vista, Russia, Botev Plovdiv FC, Bulgaria and CEO P Sports Limited) as Special guests of honor.
Other invited guests includes the Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission, Festus Ohwojero as well as Delta State FA Chairman, Godwin Adode.
The winners of the competition will cart home a princely sum of N5m while the losing finalist will pocket N3m even as the third-placed side will earn a cool sum of N2m for their effort.
Most valuable player of the tournament will be rewarded with the sum of N500k, Competition Top Scorer N300k, Best Goalkeeper N200k, Best Fair Play Team N300k with other gifts and incentives.
The annual tourney , Osubi Community Unity Cup is powered and sponsored by Sheriff Jnr Care Foundation, as part of the foundation corporate social responsibility to the community.
The annual tournament in its previous editions has birthed many success stories with talents unearthed through the competition playing professional football in Europe and in the Nigeria local league.
