Daniel Ogunmodede Is The New Sherrif In Town And Remo Stars Is The Hen that laid The Golden Egg--- Adewale Ajayi

He is not one man who wants to be celebrated, infact, he prefers to dance without the trumpet or the drums. That is how Otunba Kunle Soname, the multi billionaire club owner whose team Remo Stars is currently top of the Nigeria Premier Football league loves to do his thing.

Over the years, this influential gentleman who hails from Ikenne Remo in Ogun state has steadily but silently climbed the podium of success, clinging so much to what he believes in and waiting to take his chance when the opportunity arises.

His journey into the now booming Sports Betting business started like childs play but it was just a matter of time before fate catapulted him to the very top. That same fate led him into football club ownership  where he has not only excelled but is on the verge of making history as the best football administrator to ever emerge from this part of the world.

For someone who just heard about the Nigeria premier league and desperately wants to identify with a Nigerian clubside that is being managed professionally, a clubside that understands the fundamentals and has put in place standard football structures befitting of a top professional football club, then the place to be, is Remo Stars football club of Ikenne, in Ogun state.

This is a club that was originally set up as an academy before graduating from the lower league to the Apex football league in the country. All through these years of careful rise from grass to grace, the club has kept fate with their own. They have nurtured some home grown coaches with rich potentials and have watched them grow to become what they are today.

Among these coaches is the present Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Ogunmodede who today, is the proud coach of a Nigerian team that went to Accra to pick a point against the almighty Black Galaxies of Ghana before putting the icing on the cake with a mouthwatering 3-1 victory in Uyo to qualify Nigeria to the African Nations championship CHAN.

Ogunmodede's success story cannot be complete without a mention of Remo Stars and Kunle Soname. Both have helped in no small way to mould him into who he is today.

In the last three years, Ogunmodede has embarked on intensive coaching courses in Portugal and some other European countries, he has been accorded the rare privilege of sitting on the bench of CD Feirense, the Portuguese club owned and financed by Kunle Soname and has returned from every coaching course sharper and better. In all sincerity, he has remained humble and grateful to all those that have helped him this far.

So, it shouldn't come as a surprise to many that today, this very knowledgeable coach, has guided Nigeria to her first CHAN Competition after two failed attempts under much celebrated names like Imama Amapakabo and Salisu Yusuf.

This write up will not be complete without first giving honour to whom it is due. It is important to salute the visionary leadership of Kunle Soname for identifying the talent in Daniel Ogunmodede and then nurturing him to stardom.

Then let's also salute the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF led by Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau for deciding to give two of the emerging young coaches in Nigeria football, Fidelis Illechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede a platform to showcase their talents. This eye opener could be the liberation we all have all been praying for.

Atleast, in the next few years, the nation's football will no longer be haunted by some glorified Ex internationals especially from the USA 94 fame, who have tormented Nigeria football for close to two decades.

There are lessons to be learnt from all of these especially from the Nigeria Football Federation NFF. One of the key lessons, is training. What Nigeria is getting from Daniel Ogunmodede today, did not come from the blues. It is the result of conscious planning and training. The management of Remo Stars football club of Ogun state deserve commendation for all their investments in Nigeria football especially their investment in Local coaches. The likes of Daniel Ogunmodede and others within the Remo Stars football family, are a testament to the saying that to whom much is given, much is expected.

The NFF must learn to train our local coaches because you can only expect the best if you train them to be the best.
