Mr. Juld Demegu, a celebrated member of the victorious Imo State Trojan team of 1978, has made an emotional appeal for assistance from the Federal and State Government as he battles life-threatening health challenges. Popularly called “Military” in his active playing days for his exceptional skills in the defence, Demegu is now confined to his sickbed and unable to walk unaided.
The legendary defender, whose career left an indelible mark on Nigerian football, was instrumental to the success story of the team that later transformed into the Spartans of Owerri, now known as Heartland FC. His impressive performances earned him the admiration and respect of fans, making him a hero in his community and beyond.
Demegu’s condition has reportedly worsened due to severe inflammation, leaving him dependent on physical support of persons around him before he could move out of his sick bed. The former athlete, a native of Eziala Ogwu in Ngurunwekwo, Aboh Mbaise, now finds himself in dire straits, with limited resources to take care of his medical treatment and purchase recommende drugs.
Friends and well-wishers have expressed concern over the plight of the retired footballer, who once brought glory to Imo State and Nigeria at large.
Bed-ridden Demegu is in dire need of financial assistance has appealed the Imo State government, sports lovers and philanthropists to come to his aid as his family is finds it very difficult to provide his basis medical needs and food.

" I am appealing to our sports-loving Governor, His Excellency, Hope Uzodinma and the good people of Imo State to help me. I have suffered so much pains. The trauma is indescribable. I don't want to die, please," he pleaded.
