As professional Golfers from different parts of Nigeria join the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), Edo State. in honouring former Deputy Governor of Edo State Rt Honourable Comrade Philip Shaibu on his 55th Birthday anniversary, the Governor of Edo State Senator Monday Okpebholo is expected to perform the ceremonial teeoff on Friday, November 30,2024 at the Benin Golf Section
The Deputy Governor of the state Rt Honourable Dennis Idahosa is also expected grace the occasion for the celebration of his predecessor along with other top government officials.
Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu @ 55 Birthday Golf Tournament which began since Tuesday is being organized by the trio of Kingsley Okunbor, Andrew Momodu and Benedict Oghumah as well as friends of Philip Shaibu to celebrate the man who has seen and conquered in the game of golf and football in Nigeria.
The golf tournament teed-off on Tuesday morning with Caddies category while Eaglets stormed the golf course on Wednesday.
Also, the veteran men's and ladies, the super veteran men's and ladies, men's Hcp 19 - 28 as well as ladies hcp 29 - 36 played on Thursday to exhibit their golfing skills.
Friday's event featured the invited professional golfers from across the country for their day one event while they continue on Saturday for their last putt.
Similarly, playing on Saturday are the men's hcp 0 -18 and ladies 0 - 28 who will be joined by the special guests on the golf course.
However, on Sunday is the grand finale of the event starting with birthday thanksgiving service at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin City by 9am. The presentation of prizes, birthday party and Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will commence from 1pm at the club.
It could be recalled that Comrade Shaibu, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State is an avid golfer who devoted his time to the development of golf and other sports in the state.

Meanwhile,Ex-Bendel Insurance Footballers,Ex-Internarionals including Super Eagles Coach Austin Eguavoen and other friends of Comrade Philip Shaibu are set to light up the famous Samuel Ogbemudia stadium on Saturday evening as they will be lacing up their soccer boots to play for the former deputy governor of Edo State on his 55th birthday anniversary.
The novelty match which is scheduled to kickoff at 6pm at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium immediately after Bendel Insurance FC match with Plateau Utd will be featuring former Insurance and super Eagles stars Edema Folodu,Austin Eguavoen. Others include former Insurance stars Peter Obanor,Baldwin Bazuaye,Charles Ihimekpen and Haruna Wahab among others.
