The Kano State Government has fulfilled its pledge to reward those who have contributed to Kano Pillars FC's success in various capacities, both past and present. This gesture reflects the state's commitment to acknowledging the hard work and dedication of those who have supported the club’s journey.
On Friday, under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the government through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso presented a cheque of more than 11.2 million Naira to the family of the late Alhaji Salisu Yaro. Yaro, who served the club in numerous roles, including as Welfare Officer and later as General Coordinator, was a devoted figure in the club's history.
Fondly known as 'Mai Gida,' Salisu Yaro passed away earlier this year after a prolonged illness. Throughout his life, he remained a staunch supporter and motivational figure for the former Nigerian Champions, its players, and past administrators. His influence and passion left a lasting impact on the club community.u
In his remarks while presenting the cheque, Hon. Kwankwaso emphasized that the current administration prioritizes recognizing and rewarding those who have served Kano Pillars and other sports sectors in the state for their invaluable contributions. He noted that the Kano State Government remains committed to enhancing sports as a crucial tool for engaging the youth and steering them away from negative influences.
Hon. Kwankwaso described late Salisu Yaro as a remarkable figure whose legacy will endure within Kano Pillars FC and the wider sports community.
Stadium Renovation Update for Kano Pillars Home Games
Regarding the ongoing renovation of the Sani Abacha Stadium, which led the state's darling team, Kano Pillars FC to adopt the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina as a temporary home for the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League Season, the commissioner shared positive news. He confirmed that the renovation is nearing completion, with approximately 85% of the work finished.
Fans can now look forward to the NPFL giants returning to the refurbished Sani Abacha Stadium for their next home fixture, signaling a new era for the club and its supporters.
