The Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ogun State, has expelled 25 students and indefinitely suspended 58 others due to various offenses, including forgery, threats to life, exam malpractice, and fraudulent activities. This was announced in a statement released on Tuesday by the University Registrar, Mr. Dapo Oke.
These disciplinary measures were recommended by the Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee and subsequently approved by the university’s Senate during its statutory meeting held on July 31, 2024.
The statement instructed the affected students to stay away from the university premises, warning that any student who fails to comply with this directive will face legal consequences and the university’s security personnel. “At the Senate meeting on July 31, 2024, it was decided that Ojo Micheal, a 200-level Computer Science student, be expelled for the 2023/2024 academic session for forging his CGPA to run in the Student Union Elections,” the statement noted.
The disciplinary actions also include the expulsion of 17 students for exam malpractice, five for issuing threats to life, and one for fraudulent behavior. Additionally, 47 students were suspended indefinitely for various forms of misconduct, while ten were suspended for impersonation.
The university further advised the sanctioned students to keep off the campus to avoid any confrontation with the University Security Personnel, as it remains committed to upholding discipline and integrity within its community.
