Fearless October: ‘Planned Protest Must Not Truncate Peace, Unity And Stability of The Nation’ — NSCDC Boss Warns

Commandant Abidemi Majekodunmi on behalf of the Commandant General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, gave a stern warning to Nigerian youths to stay away from the proposed nationwide protest scheduled to hold in October.

According to the statement signed by the Zonal Public Relations Officer for the Zonal Command, the Acting Zonal Commander  further reiterated the unambiguous directive of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR that,  subversive non - state actors and faceless fifth columnists must not be allowed to violate and desecrate the constitutional ground norms of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He emphasised that although the right and privilege to protest in Nigeria is  inalienable, however, criminal politicization will not be tolerated. Neither would criminal entrepreneurs be allowed to have a free day to loot or execute any macabre agenda.

The Acting Zonal Commander further opined that Nigeria is a constitutional democracy governed by law and international statutes, thus, all activities and engagements must be subsumed within the confines of acceptable legal conventions.

Field intelligence shows that malcontent elements and miscreants  intend to hijack the planned protests thereby causing mayhem, breach of peace, disruption of law and order, looting and vandalization of public property, etc.

He equally advised Commandants within the Zone F formation to synergize with other sister agencies in the area of synchronization of blueprints and strategy.

The Commandant General has directed the state commandants to ensure that manpower, technical and intelligence resources should be deployed to provide adequate/maximum security for all critical national installations and infrastructure within their respective domains e.g communication assets, schools as well as private property and lives of citizens against molestation and harassment.

In his statement "we will not fold our arms and allow the planned protests to set our nation on fire and roll back the gains of the journey of our nationhood.

He admonish "parents and guardians to warn their children and wards very well".

He also made it clear to officers to ensure that they carry out their assignment in accordance with  standard service operational procedures and world best practices. He further declared, 'any officer caught in the act of denying citizens their constitutional human rights will be dealt with accordingly'.

He assured citizens that the Corps and other sister agencies are committed and ever ready to give them the best in making sure they are secured.

He called for security - citizens collaboration in the area of providing real time and adequate information that will help in getting rid of criminal elements within the society as this will promote citizenship and community- security partnership.
