NANNM has warned that failure to meet these demands would result in more stringent measures.
The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has called on the Federal Ministry of Health to address pending concerns by September 16, 2024 or face stringent action.
The demand follows a meeting held on August 28 to 29, 2024.
In a statement signed by Otaru Daniel Shaibu, Deputy General Secretary of NANNM, the association stated, "A 15-day ultimatum has been issued to the Federal Ministry of Health, commencing from the above date."
"NANNM has warned that failure to meet these demands would result in more stringent measures.
"The association has also instructed all state councils to prepare for additional actions if the Ministry fails to respond within the specified timeframe.
"The directive highlights the need for urgent attention and widespread publicity to ensure the Ministry's compliance."
The statement reads, “Sequel to the decision of the NEC-in-session which held on the 28th and 29th August, 2024 at Sharon Ultimate Hotels on the above subject-matter, I write as directed to inform you that the directive has been duly carried out.
“A-15-day ultimatum has been issued to the Federal Ministry of health commencing from the above date within which it should address the issues forwarded to it as discussed by the NEC-in-session, failure which will attract a more stringent measure from the Association to drive home their demands.
“The ultimatum expires on the 16th September, 2024. By this notice, all state Councils are mandated to mobilise cur members in the states for further action in the event of failure of the Ministry of Health to attend to our legitimate needs after the expiration of the ultimatum.
