The Executive Chairman of Obafemi-Owode Local Government OOLG Ambassador Ogunsola Lanrewaju Adesina has described the Independent Newspapers Awards bestowes upon Prince Dapo Abiodun as the Governor of the year a deserving one based on the infrastructure projects and economic transformation.
The award was presented to the governor, who was ably represented by his Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba as chairman.
The Tech Innovation award is in recognition of Governor Abiodun’s commitment to use innovation and technology to drive the economy of the Gateway State.
His innovative and technological approach to governance has propelled Ogun State to be among the second best in the country in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). His government also rolled out a gas-powered public transport system with the conversion of petrol/diesel buses to natural gas.
The initiative would soon be extended to motorbikes and tricycles. In addition the administration of Governor Abiodun also established the Ogun Tech Hub, while it has also put in place, the “Light Up Ogun State” project, which is meant to provide electricity to the nooks and crannies of the state.
The governor is also deploying technology to fight crimes in the state with the commissioning of a top grade drone by the Inspector General of Police recently.
However, Aremo Osoba, while praising the organisers of the event, noted that the awards cut across political divide, zones, and religions.
Ogunsola Lanrewaju Adesina charged the people of Ogun state to extend the continued support to His Excellency Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun to succeed in his terms in office, noting that he is sure the governor will bring more transformation to Ogun state.
