UNNECESSARY NATIONAL STRIKE — Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi

With the economic impasse the country is going through, it is a wrong time for a national strike for wrong reasons. The government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must be commended and supported for the increase in revenue to State governments. As at today, the revenue generation increment through the petroleum subsidy removal, a monster that would have consumed the country if not dealt with.
Another factor in revenue increment is the crude oil output of 1.7m barrels per day to the world market hence, the increase allocation to state governments.  This is an appeal to the State Governors to do more for our people in order to alliviate them from poverty.

Kudos to whom it is due : Gov Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has just awarded a sum of #25,000:00 for state workers, #15,000:00 for pensioners for the next six months. One must give credit for the free transport services for Oyo State workers too. All these are tangible Palliative measures.

Same for Prof. Babagana Zulum of Borno state, an extraordinary performer. A pro-labout governor who has been labelled as " a man healing a broken state with personal touch"

In Imo state, where the assult was reported, the people just reelected Sen Hope Uzodinma. The good work for his people made it happened.

The allegedly assult by unknown citizens on the Comrade Joe Ajaero, the leader of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is a condemnable act.
It must be emphasised that it is uncharitable for such a leader to be involved in partisan politics. For Comrade Ajaero to be accused of being partisan in an electoral process where tempers are charged is tantamount to carrying a keg of gunpowder while playing with fire. He must chose one of the two.

Violent attack on any Nigerian is unnecessary and must be condemned. No one must take the law to his/her hands and no one should be seen to be above the law.
Peace, tranquility and respect of law and order must be citizens responsibility.
"I pray that the body of NLC and TUC call off the strike earnestly and stay away clearly from partisan politics in order to capture back her old glory and respect. All hands must be on deck to move Nigeria forward." Sen Soji Akanbi concluded
