Henceforth, tractors not registered with the Ministry of Forestry in Ogun State would not be allowed to operate within the State’s forest reserves.
Commissioner for Forestry, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun dropped this hint during a chat with newsmen at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying that the government would no longer fold its hands and allow illegality to persist across its forest reserves.
He further disclosed that registration and proper documentation of the tractor with the Ministry is necessary, as a sticker would be issued before such a tractor could be allowed to operate within the reserves.
Oludotun stated that timber contractors were also not left out in the new order, adding that they must also revalidate their registration with the Ministry before they could be allowed to operate within the government forest reserves, advising forest officers to ensure they protect trees planted from being destroyed.
