Imo Traditional Council Suspends Chief David Sowemimo over invasion of people's properties




The Imo Township Traditional Council within Egba Alake region of Ogun State has given indefinite suspension to Chief David Sowemimo on the ground of his unlawful entrance into numbers of premises belonging to various members of Orile-Imo Community describing the act as criminal today 24th of November, 2023. 



Chief David Sowemimo, who until his suspension was the Apena of Imo Township, He claimed that he acted on the instruction of Chief Olorunsogo Ogunwemimo Ogunbona, the Oluwo of Imo Township who has also been suspended indefinitely.



The Oluwo is said to have claimed that he was the custodian of Imo Traditional Institution and that he acted on the directives of His Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, MFR, The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland. A visit of our team to the Secretary of Imo Traditional Council, Chief Emmanuel Olaotan Olude, who is also the Seriki of Imo Township denied the involvement of His Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, MFR, The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland and the entire Imo Traditional Council in the perpetration of the unlawful act. 



According to the secretary, “apart from the fact that the act is unlawful, there is no meeting called to discuss the action taken by the duo while investigation made to Ake palace confirms non-involvement of His Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, MFR, The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland”.



The suspension which takes immediate effect is indefinite.
