Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, FCA YAYI (APC, Ogun West), the chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriations has trained over 9000 women and youth and other interested constituents in various vocations and skills acquisition in two phases of implementation of projects facilitate in the 2022/2023 budget across all Local Government Areas of Ogun West Senatorial District.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Chief Kayode Odunaro, the senator over the weekend, said all the trainees were trained from a pool of selected constituents in Fashion Design, Phone Repairs, Confectionary, Event Planning, Block Interlocking/POP, Paint Making, Barbing, Cassava/Plantain Value Chain, Honey Bee Value Chain, Hairdressing and Agric Value Chain at various centers in the 5 LGAs of Ogun West over a period of two weeks.
The programme in skills acquisition and vocational training for women and youth is in line with the representative agenda of the senator in “teaching constituents how to fish instead of just giving them fish endlessly” in addition to other representative programmes to bring development to the senatorial district.
The senator disclosed to some leaders monitoring the trainings that in addition to the training which are going to be certificated, some of the beneficiaries will be empowered with seed funds of various sums as well as equipment to start their own businesses towards being self-employed and making positive contribution to the economic growth of the country.
“As promised to my people during my electioneering, you do not need to know me personally or belong to my party to benefit from these programmes. I am representing every one from my senatorial district. I am sure that constituents in need of training and empowerment that presents themselves will be trained and benefit in due course. This is one of my own ways of implementing the philosophy of teaching a man to fish instead of perpetually giving out fishes.” he stated.
