A socio-political group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Òmìnira Ọ̀dọ́ Vanguard, has reiterated it's support for the Candidate of PDP in the March 18 gubernatorial election in the State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, describing him as a true messiah Ogun State needs at the moment.
It alleged that the declaration of the incumbent, Dapo Abiodun, was not in line with the spirit and letter of the electoral act and was in total variance with the wish of the people.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Convener of the group, Oluwapelumi Coker, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
According to the statement, majority of the people of Ogun State are in support of the PDP candidate and are anxiously waiting for the tribunal to declare him the winner of the poll, adding that there is light at the end of the tunnel for PDP in the State.
The group further called on security agencies to be on alert and be vigilant from now till the day of judgement at the tribunal, to forestall break down of law and order by those who might not be comfortable with the pronouncement.
The statement read in part: " Hon. Ladi ADEBUTU is a seasoned administrator, former lawmaker and genuine philanthropist, who has over the years demonstrated his love and commitment to the betterment of the people of Ogun State. It is against that backdrop that we strongly believe that our party, the PDP and it's candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, will be victorious at the tribunal, going by the amount of undeniable facts and evidence before the court.
" We, however, condemn the incessant media attacks, both in print and new media, believed to have been sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Dapo Abiodun on the person of Hon. Ladi ADEBUTU. To set the records straight, it was Dapo Abiodun who orchestrated the menace of vote buying across the state in the just concluded 2023 gubernatorial elections in Ogun State.
"We, therefore, urge our party members and teeming supporters to continue to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding, as we are sure of reclaiming our mandate through the tribunal, which is set to deliver its judgment soon.
