Obaship: Oluwo Adisa Obasanjo Soyoye, other Chiefs deny involvement in slowing the process of appointing the Olu of Kajola at Orile Erunwon

 

 

The Erunwon Traditional Council of chiefs has denied any involvement in slowing the process of selection of an Oba for the stool of "Olu of Kajola at Orile Erunwon" 

The chiefs responded to the call of our medium today subsequent to the story of delay in the Obaship process at Kajola village, Orile Erunwon, Obafemi—Owode Local Government area of Ogun state today 14th of August 2023. 

In a meeting with Amebo Newspapers NG were Chief Adisa Obasanjo Soyoye, Oluwo Erunwon and former Chairman of Obafemi—Owode Local Government; Cheif Olaseni Adeoye, Ekerin of Erunwon; Chief Fagbenro Kayode, Laderin of Erunwon and Imam Rasaq Arikewuyo an Officer of the Omo Ibile Descendants Union in ErunwonTown representing the youths of Erunwon Town.

Oluwo Adisa Obasanjo Soyoye narrated the process of installing an Oba in any community. He stated that the case pertaining to Kajola, Orile Erunwon dated back to 2012. Chief Nola Edun was the Oluwo of Erunwon then; he was also the Aro of Egbaland.He could not push through the process until his death in 2016.

Later Chief Adisa Obasanjo Soyoye, succeeded him as Oluwo Erunwon in 2017. He continued in the bid to see to the development of Kajola village and forged ahead to process the appointment  of an Oba in Kajola village, Orile Erunwon. This process was still in progress when suddenly former Gov. Ibikunle Amosun in May 2019, in the twilight of his administration, announced the appointment of 75 Coronet Obas in Ogun State. That of Kajola village was one of them. The person so appointed is Akanji Somorin Sowonoye. As we are all aware the matter subsequently became the subject of court action when Amosun's successor, Gov. Dapo Abiodun did not recognize the 75 Obas. The matter is yet to be conclusively resolved till date. This constitutes a critical matter to be resolved when talking of Olu of Kajola, Orile EruErunwon.

Also, a court case is in progress between Akanji Somorin Sowonoye & others against Oba Taofeek Owolabi (the Olu of Obafemi) & others over the trespass of Oba Taofeek Owolabi on Erunwon territiory at Kajola village. The Erunwon Traditional Council of Chiefs is naturally interested in the case. 

Until these cases are disposed off, it is not conceivable that the Erunwon Traditional Council of Chiefs will entertain any matter relating to the  appointment an Olu of Kajola, Orile Erunwon.
