Legacy! Many yearn to have one. They make tons of money, have many children, buy many cars and build many houses and their names ring throughout the land. However, a few years after they’re gone, no matter how long they lived, their names are soon forgotten. They failed to build a true legacy, a lasting legacy. But not so the young and vibrant Dr. Babatunde Diya.
It’s three years today that the Doctor Tunde Diya Foundation (DTDF) was founded by the son of a great father –Dr. Babatunde Diya. He came to this world bearing two great names. Babatunde indicated the return of his grandfather, a great man. Diya is a name that rings a bell throughout the nation and the world, made famous by his illustrious father, late Lt. General Oladipo Diya, governor of Ogun State, vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and initiator of the present status of Odogbolu local government area.
Having met such a legacy, Dr. Babatunde Diya had no alternative than to step out and step up. That he did and in style. He founded a foundation in his name and in three years the Foundation became a force for positive change in his home town Odogbolu and other places in the Odogbolu local governement area. His Foundation’s programmes covered health, education, skill acquisition, sports, theatre and entertainment, environmental sanitation, etc. He did not rest on the legacy his father and forefathers built. He built his own and became a fountain that continues to give, a mother hen that continues to protect her chicks and a roaring lion tearing apart the many challenges his people face.
To mark his Foundation’s third year anniversary, Dr. Tunde Diya, has launched a special health programme for his community with the needy and less privileged being the traget recipient of this special medical outreach. The DTDF project, under the supervision of the DTDF supervisor, the supervisor for health in the Odogbolu local government authority and other medical personnel, will donate medical consummables and equipments to Primary Healthcare Centres across Odogbolu local government area. In an era where many young men are spending their time pursuing wealth or lavishly spending it on mundane things, Dr. Diya is a beacon of hope that will guide his people for decades.
He has built a great legacy already. In six, seven decades or so, the legacy Dr. Bababatunde Diya is building would have become a rainbow visible to all throughout the world. And ten, twenty, thirty decades and more from this day, humanity will still be constant beneficiaries of the Doctor Tunde Diya Foundation.
