June 12th Democracy Day: Executive Director NotTooYoungToLeadInitiative Elvis Akpobi hails Nigerians for keeping faith with democracy


The Executive Director of the NotToYoungToLead Initiative, Amb Elvis Akpobi has hailed Nigerians on the occasion of the 2023 June 12th Democracy Day Celebration. Amb Akpobi thank Nigerians, especially Nigerian Youths for keeping faith in the nation's democracy, especially their mass participation in the 2023 General Elections which held on February 28th 2023 and March 18th 2023. He particularly hailed their peaceful conduct despite the outcome of the elections. 

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Nations capital on Monday June 12th 2023 to mark this year's celebration, Amb Akpobi said that Nigerians by their largely peaceful conduct before, during and after elections, especially with the peaceful transition from democracy to democracy, a culture that has so far been maintained since the return of democracy in 1999.

Amb Akpobi stressed that though Nigerian Youths were not very happy with some of the outcomes of the polls, they have kept faith with democracy, adding that Nigeria will get it right soon enough, just as after the unfortunate events of June 12th, 1993 did not break the resolve of Nigerians to push for a better Nigeria under a sustained democracy which has lasted for over 20 years since the return of democracy in 1999.

Amb Elvis Apkobi has been advocating for youths to be involved in governance and decision making because they have the qualities to present durable inputs in governance.

NotToYoungToLead Initiative is active in five countries in Africa which include Rwanda, Liberia,  Sierra Leone, Morocco and Nigeria.
