Executive Director NotTooYoungToLeadInitiative Amb Elvis Akpobi congratulates New Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Charged him to Sustain Democratic Ideals

The Executive Director NotTooYoungToLeadInitiative, Amb Elvis Akpobi has congratulated Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor over his emergence as the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly. Amb Akpobi used the opportunity to charge him to sustain democratic value in the spirit of the 2023 June 12th Democracy Day Celebration.

In a statement issued to journalists in Asaba the Delta State Capital shortly after the emergence of Rt Hon Guwor, Amb Akpobi hailed the members of the Delta State House of Assembly for electing a 43 year old to lead them. According to him, it is a testament that the State has moved in the direction of mentorship and incorporation of youths in governance and policy making.

Amb Akpobi stressed that as a youth, Rt Hon Guwor should strive to build confidence among young people in democracy, adding that though the outcome of the 2023 General Elections was not 100% for youths, young people who find themselves in the places of authority in this democratic dispensation must distinguish themselves by ensuring that they protect Democratic tenets.

Guwor emerged Speaker following the proclamation of the 8th Assembly by the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori. He was nominated by Fergusson Onwo and seconded by Marilyn Okowa-Daramola.

Shortly after Guwor emerged as the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Arthur Akpovwovwo was elected Deputy Speaker.

Amb Elvis Akpobi has been advocating for youths to be involved in governance and decision making because they have the qualities to present durable inputs in governance.
