Police arrest suspect who stabbed mother to death in Kano




The Kano State Police Command has arrested Ibrahim Musa, the boy who allegedly stabbed his mother to death at Rimin Kebe Quarters of Ungogo local government area of the state.


In a statement on Friday, SP Abdullahi Haruna, Police Public Relations Officer in Kano explained that the suspect was apprehended in Dawakin Tofa local government area of the state in a hideout.


The statement said the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigations, saying that he has confessed to the crime.


A source explained that the suspect spent more than a year without visiting his mother but around 5:30pm on the day of the murder, he was seen around his mother’s place.

He had lived with his father at Kurna after suffering from a mental health condition.


The source explained, “The moment he entered he just asked of her, she was not around but he demanded she be called because she was in the neighbourhood.”


He added that when the mother came happily welcoming him, he was inside listening to them, the moment she opened the door, he heard her shouting and he quickly came out and saw him with a knife.


He said that the suspect attempted to attack him also but he ran away and that’s when people gathered because they saw him going out suspiciously as he threw the knife outside and ran away.


The source explained that she (the deceased) used to visit him whenever she had a bad nightmare about him, adding that the last time she went there, he chased her and she ran to hide in a room while he was held bound by the people around


He said the incident was during the month of Ramadan and that was the last time she saw him.
