Hilda Effiong-Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef and restauranteur, is set to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual.
She announced her intentions in a video posted to her Instagram page on Sunday.
Baci plans to cook for four (4) days and nights, for a total of 97 hours, at Amore Gardens in Lagos. If she breaks the marathon record, she will be the first woman in Africa to do so in her field.
She demonstrated her culinary prowess in 2021 when she won the Jollof Face-off Competition while representing Nigeria. In the same year, she established her signature restaurant and food delivery service, “My Food by Hilda”.
Lata Tandon, the current world record holder, is an Indian chef from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Tandon cooked nonstop for 87 hours and 45 minutes, breaking the previous record by 20 hours.
The event is set to begin on April 28, 2023.
