To say that the passing on to glory of the matriarch of the Adebutu dynasty, Yeyemode Oodua, the Otun Iya'laje and Iya Apesin of Lagos, Dame Caroline Oladunni Adebutu is not a painful one is to say that we are heartless. Mama left us at a time her wise counsel, vast experience and rich knowledge would be massively needed by you Hon. OLADIPUPO ADEBUTU, her first fruit, her other children, especially at a time you're warming up to be the Governor of the Gateway State as we cannot wish away the import of her guide and admonition, given her highly fertile education, administrative records, and of course her exposure and excellent world-view. Must we also talk about her companionship to our father, the Oodole Oodua, Chief Kessington Adebutu, which Papa will greatly need now? She is going to be missed by all and sundry because of her angelic and uncommon motherly personality.
We are anchoring our resolve on the fact that Mama has gone home to rest. We are equally proud and comforted by the fact she lived her great and enviable life to the services of God, man and society. For her to have left the Board of Customs in 1971 on the request of her husband who wanted her to be a full time housewife to look after his home and raise amiable children, confirms that she was central to Papa's life and home. After all, given her rich career profile, her education, and vast travelling, if she was today's woman, she would have chosen career above her home. We thank her for choosing to raise her children and look after her husband's home.
As members of the Adebutu dynasty mourn the passage of this great mother and an astute community leader, I, Rt. Hon. Adesegun Abdel-Majid Adekoya , on behalf of my immediate family members, the wonderful people of Ago-Iwoye, and members of my Federal Constituency, wish to express our heartfelt condolences to you, our Governor-in-waiting, and other members of the family especially and in particular, our Papa, the Oodole Oodua on the painful but joyous exit of our mama. It is joyous because she did not live to mourn any of you; her fruits.
May God grant her soul rest while He comforts all of you and especially our Papa.
Once again, kindly accept my deepest concern.
Rt. Hon. Adesegun Abdel-Majid Adekoya,
ATTACKER
