The South East section of Bridge Builders Initiative For Green Nigeria (BBIGN) have concluded plan on the possible way to encourage the Honourable Minister of Transportation, His Excellency Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to declare his intention to run for the presidency.
In a meeting held in Abia Hotel Umuahia, Abia State on Friday 4th March 2022, the group resolved to undertake a solidarity march within Abuja metropolis for the Honourable Minister of Transport, hoping that such move will finally encourage him to join the race.
Addressing the press immediately after the meeting, the National Vice President South East of BBIGN, Hon. Austin Okezie said that the group was determined more than ever to do whatever is humanly possible that can help persuade His Excellency Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi to join the presidential race. In his words, “we are determined to push further with our quest to encourage the Honourable Minister of Transportation, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to declare for presidency. We have been working on this for a long time now through the able leadership of our National President Dr. Emmanuel Chigoziri Orgwu. Across the federation, diferent state and goepolitical zonal chapters of our group have held so many symposia and town hall meetings, showcasing the rare qualities and achievements of the Honourable Minister of Transportation Rt Hon. Amaechi.
Just few weeks ago, the Northwest Chapter held their town hall meetings in Zamfara State, which followed the one done by South East in Owerri Imo State about two months ago. The same has happened in the North Central, North East, South West and of course South South.
Hon. Austin Okezie further indicated that they were getting impatient and unhappy that the Honourable Minister was yet to declare for the presidency. He said, "generally, we are not happy that up till now, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has not declared his intention to join in the presidential race. We, especially those of us in the South East and Igboland in general cannot afford to allow such rare breed and excellent public servant to elude us as the president of Nigeria, especially now that APC has shown strong indication to zone the presidency to the South.
The Honourable Minister of Transportation Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has all it takes to be a good president of Nigeria. The whole country has seen what he has achieved in the transportation sector, especially in the rail and marine subsectors.
The quality of our rail services are so impressive that some people even doubt if really such world-class services exist here in Nigeria. Thus we are sure that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi will help deepen the developmental efforts of this present government, and we believe so many Nigerians will support and vote for him during the elections, irrespective of party or ethnic affiliations because His Excellency Chibuike Amaechi has really proved that he has the interest of the generality of Nigerians at heart. And his achievements in Rivers State when he was the governor was a milestone.
Continuing, "every new day, we keep expecting to hear the news of his declaration, but the news is yet to come hence our meeting today to strategize on what more we can do to help persuade and encourage him to declare. This we are doing in strong collaboration with our other chapters all over the federation under the visionary leadership of our National President Dr. Emmanuel Orgwu".
This view was supported by Hon. Anthony Uduama, the South East Zonal Coordinator from Ebonyi State; the National Director of Education And Content Development Mr. Onah Obiora from Enugu State; the South East Youth Leader Mr. Chikezie Ayajuru from Imo State; and the South East Director of Transport And Logistics Mr. Grant Okeigbo from Abia State.
Others present were the Coordinators of Anambra: Engr. Ezike Jonathan; Ebonyi - Hon. Nnaemeka Nwaidembia; Imo - Chief Damian Mbahotu, and Abia - Engr. Ejike Chukwu, duly represented by Abia State Secretary Mr. Ezebuiro Chijioke Eze.
